FERME LARKSPUR FARM STYLED SHOOT
At the end of August, we were honoured to team up with Ferme Larkspur Farm for a styled shoot showcasing their bridal bouquets. Driving up to L’Ange-Gardien, I knew this shoot was going to be the perfect way to end the summer. We were blessed with a beautiful evening (small downpour included, which made for some epic lighting!). I even got to sample some delicious veggies picked fresh from their farm. As I type this, I can still taste those BBQ-ed skewers…
Alix Tabet & Doug Bishop co-own Ferme Larkspur Farm, an organic vegetable and cut-flower farm in L’Ange-Gardien, QC. I had Alix co-write this post to give us more details about their bouquet subscriptions and wedding flowers.
We grow over 50 varieties of specialty cut-flowers and foliage on just under a quarter acre. The cut-flowers we grow are in bloom from late June until frost. We offer bouquet subscriptions and wedding flowers throughout the growing season. Soil health and supporting biodiversity are at the heart of our ecological farming practice. We focus on no-till farming to regenerate soil and retain water. The flower field is home to an abundance of pollinators, birds, toads, voles, and many insects. It's also one of the most beautiful spaces to be on the farm. As an organic small-scale farmer connected to the land and the changing seasons, it was only a matter of time before I started to design with flowers. I’m interested in capturing time and place through flower design by prioritizing local, seasonal and natural materials. We love arrangements that reflect the incredible diversity of cut-flowers from their nuanced colours and textures to their fragrances. Our design aesthetic looks to bring you into the present moment and connect you with nature and helps to create truly unique celebrations. For this shoot, we paired late August blooms like lisianthus, dahlias, zinnias, with foraged crabapple branches for a romantic, wildflower bridal mood. Ferme Larkspur Farm is now booking 2021-22 weddings and elopements in the Outaouais region.
It was an honour to be able to team up with Alix & friends to capture these incredibly gorgeous flower arrangements.
